The settlement of Avgi was founded by families of refugees from Pontos.
Every year on the first Friday weekend after the 15th of August, the “Synapantema Avgiotes and Friends” (Meeting of Avgiotes & Friends) is organized with great success.
The bond between the inhabitants and the contact they insist on keeping with their long history is reflected in the impressive attendance of the people.
The village is also famous for the cheese products it produces.
